Adults in your community [who completed all of their high school coursework – but did not obtain a high school diploma due to graduation testing requirements] have a path to earn their high school diploma

In her interview with the El Paso Times, State Board of Education Member, Georgina Perez, noted the following:
“Currently, students who don’t do well on the STAAR exams have another way to graduate high school via their portfolio or project work, Perez said.
Students who took the TAKS tests, used for students who entered ninth grade before the 2011-12 school year, were not given the same opportunity, she said.
Perez said that in El Paso, more than 19,000 people left high school without a diploma between 2003 and 2013.”
To help address this issue, she created a comprehensive website that provides information, links, and resources for both the adults in the community seeking to earn their high school diploma and the school district staff assisting them in achieving that goal.
